A monthly informal get together of digital communicators, web developers / designers, social media specialists and small / medium enterprises who work in government, with government and outside of government. Share ideas, solve problems, learn something new. Open to all.
 

This month featuring

Westminster City Council digital inclusion initiatives by Irene McWilliams @irenedigital Irene will talk about two current initiatives:

  • Charity Cloud Computing Network: the aim is to reduce costs for charities through alternatives to direct funding. The city council are holding an IT support forum for charities in March and discussion will include: what dopeople need to live in a digital world   http://www.westminsterintouch.com/
  • Getting homeless people online: the aim is to get smart phones and free wifi for homeless people to help them keep in contact with family and agencies, giving them an address and identity.

Mark Smitham from Home Office will told us about government’s fast track graduate programme for technology, Technology in Business (TiB).  The people who, like teacampers, want to innovate and shape the way government does business by using technology.  Have you considered TiB in your organisation?
 
Sharon O’Dea from Parliament.uk  will talk about an international perspective on social media / digital communications gathered from her experiences in South America and the Middle East.
 
Tom Loosemore will talk about ‘Alphagov’, the alpha version of a single domain for government as outlined in the Martha Lane Fox review of government digital services.

Steve Dale spoke about the pending Beta release of the Knowledge Hub www.local.gov.uk/knowledgehub   #khub  http://steve-dale.net/
The Knowledge Hub will become the definitive online environment for public sector organisations to produce, capture and share knowledge. It will integrate and aggregate data and conversations and highlight key topics and trends. Users can upload their own datasets and create free or licensed value-added applications for improving public services.
 
Ann Kempster from Government Communication Network (GCN) told us about the relaunch of the GCN website on a BuddyPress platform, with Sebastian Crump, COI, and Harry Metcalf, DXW.
 
Hadley Beeman, Glyn Wintle and Chris Whiting will be updating everyone on LinkedGov.org, the community project to make government data more useful. They’ll be looking at the collaboration aspects of the project for government and working out what areas of conversation need to be hosted.

Jon Hale from www.govdelivery.co.uk  will demonstrate a cross-government alert dashboard they’ve built for USA.gov. GovDelivery would welcome teacamp’s thoughts on how a dashboard approach could work in the UK.

Tom Herring from Transport Direct will talk about ways of working when budget for marketing / paid search has been cut.
